Assignment Two - Macro Shots

Both of these macro shots are really bright and colourful and eyecatching. They both really stand out and there is a lot of close up detail in each of them. You can even see little marks on the berries and the petals. However these two images are slightly different, i feel the flower photo stands out a little more than the berry one purely because there is less going on in the background of the flower one, which means the flowers stand out more because there is not really anything to look at behind them.

Assignment Two - Experimenting with Photo Editing

This photo is really vibrant and stands out really clear. The red and the green are really colourful and are eye catching together.  I used many different effects on this photo to get it so colourful and vibrant, for example i used colour selector to really bring out the green and the red.

This photograph is really simple yet eye catching. I turned this photo into sepia and added some shadow and changed the contrast to make it more appealing to the eye. I tried to bring out the tree more against the sky background to make the image more bold and interesting and stand out more.

This photo i have made really colourful and vibrant through adjusting the colour and contrast in photoshop. The colours are really bright and really stand out. They are the same sort of colours as my first photograph yet they they are not as full and bold, the colours in this photograph are more scattered and look more pixelized. This photo captures a lot of detail in the mud and the stones and all the different greenery, its a really interesting and unusual photo.

This photgraph is really up close and shows a lot of detail, i have barely edited this photograph because it was a really good photo in itself. I just emphasized the green a little in the eyes to make them stand out more. The really long eyelashes really makes the photo stand out and viewers are really drawn into the pupil in the middle of the eye. Unlike the other photos, this photo was more of a portrait photograph and was really zoomed and up close. It showed a lot of detail without being edited a lot.

Assignment Two - Diagonal Line Photography

This photo displays lots of diagonal lines in all different directions and is really interesting. It draws you in to the middle of the pictures where the diagonal lines start to get closer together.

Compared to the first photograph, this photograph doesn't really draw you into the picture but it does display lots of diagonal lines in all different directions, it is really interesting to look at. However, eyes normally look straight at the blue squares when people first look at this photomeaning this is the main focal point.

This photo is really interesting as it has diagonal lines with in it yet there are different coloured lines on the stairs, this makes the photograph stand out quite a lot. Like the first photograph, this photo seems to draw you in to the end of the right side of the steps, it seems to all draw to a close which is interesting to look at. That area is the main focal point within the picture.

Assignment One - Landscape and Portrait Photography

Landscape Photography

The two landscape shots are very similar because they both show snowy mountains in the background and are both very ‘calm’ looking. They each show a landscape scene and both feature the sky at the top of the images.

The two landscape shots are also very different because the first landscape shot shows water and a mountain reflection in the water so it is very similar to a seascape whereas the second landscape shot shows a lot of green grassland area and a lot of plants and flowers in it as opposed to sea in the first one.

 Portrait Photography

This image is very focused on the face and there is not much else in the picture besides the babies face. The two pictures are similar as they are both images of babies and children. Both of the images are very ‘soft’ looking and are both in a sepia style.

These two images are different because the first one is simply just of the babies face and a small part of her body whereas the second image is of the child’s whole body and has actually got another object in the image although that is not the main focus.  The tree object takes up quite a big part of the image but it hasn’t been made to be the focus of the image. The child is the main focus and stands out because of the light coloured dress she is wearing and because of her pale skin against the dark woodland background.

Assignment One - Photo Journalism and Corporate Photography

Photo Journalism

Photojournalism is photos and images that are taken for news stories and to tell the news. It is journalism that presents a story through the use of pictures.

In this photograph, you can see armed police in rioting gear trying to gain some sort of control over the people in the public and in this photo there is a woman fighting back against the armed police and actually physically pushing them. This is a good and powerful picture to describe photojournalism as it is clearly showing a news event that has happened. It tells the story itself even without words. In the photo you can see signs of violence and the riot officers body language is very violent and aggressive, he looks like he is about to hit the woman. This photograph shows just how dangerous it is for a photojournalist, as they have to follow the news around as and when it happens and sometimes they have to go to dangerous places and be around dangerous situations. Photojournalism is important because it tells a story to readers and to the world. A good photojournalism picture doesn’t even need words if it tells the story exactly just simply by what’s happening in the photograph.

Corporate Photography

Corporate photography is photographs that are taken for businesses to promote their brands and products. Corporate photography is not done to try and sell the business it is simply just to promote it and make it known to the public.

GOOD
I think this image is a good representation of corporate photography because it is promoting a business, The Royal Mail, and is showing a Royal Mail employee carrying out his job. It shows the company in action as opposed to a ‘boring’ old fashioned staged picture of the company name and logo or of what the boss or managing director looks like.
BAD
I think this image is quite a bad representation of Corporate Photography because it doesn’t show what business it is promoting and it is just a really boring image of a mans face.
